Ringing in the New Year with the Queen of Green

First of all I want to wish everyone a happy new year. I am so excited with some of the feedback I have been receiving from readers and people I know, that they are either starting to make homemade baby food or they will be when their babies are old enough!

We are going to ring in the new year with a smoothie that I make my son and you can make you for baby 8 months or older with some modifications. The reason I say 8 months at least is because I use pineapple and some babies find pineapple difficult due to the acidity.

Everyone is always remind people to "eat their greens", but not all greens are created equally, and kale is the queen. Kale is high in Iron, Vitamin K, antioxidants, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, and helps as an anti-inflammatory and with cardiovascular health.

Queen of Green Puree

1 cup Kale, rinsed and chopped
1/2 cup pineapple, chopped
1 Banana, chopped
1 cup vanilla yogurt
Breastmilk/formula as needed to thin it out to desired consistency

Wash and chop your Kale, Pineapple, and Banana


Add to blender


Add yogurt and puree until smooth.


It freezes very nicely into ice cube trays as well!
